Anne’s Cultural Anthropology class focuses on human societies and their connections to food. This class delves into the process of creating food and the overall significance of the food we produce. Throughout this course, scholars have been reading Alice Waters’ We Are What We Eat: A Slow Food Manifesto, which critiques fast food for cutting corners in any way possible through price or speed. Through this class, scholars have been able to connect with their food on a deeper level, and inherently their culture as well. The final project for this class is a cookbook, but not any ordinary cookbook; rather, a unique compilation of all the scholars’ most special recipes. When scholars in the class were asked what their favorite part was, most responded that getting to know their food culture and the people in the class was for sure the best part.
