Scholars from Mary Price’s focus area class set up a physical demonstration of the treatment of mental health disorders throughout history.
The walkthrough started with the late colonial period, with a shocking display of the Salem Witch Trials.

As my partner and I continued to traverse through the macabre displays of the inhumane treatment of patients till as recent as the 1940’s, we were shocked.
As we neared the end of the tour, however, we witnessed the stark changes in treatment around the time of the 2000’s and even more so with the most recent display. Mary Price commented that, “a lot of mental health treatment is still in the prison systems” and that we are trying to move away from that. It seems that we are finally on the path to better treatment in Mental Health Facilities!
