Welcome, Scholars, to Forks, Washington! Home of vampires and werewolves! The GSP Twilight club, created by RA Keeley Pollard, is centered around watching and discussing all five movies of the Twilight series!
The club first met on Saturday June 28, from 1 p.m to 3 p.m in Faculty Hall room 208. A group of scholars joined together to watch the beloved movies, cameras out at every iconic scene. The weather, stormy and dark, was perfect for the viewing. Despite the dreary skies, the mood in the room was electric.
The club began with the original 2008 release of the first Twilight movie, starring Kristen Stewart and Robert Pattinson in the most famous (or infamous, to some) love story of the century. The club promotes a sense of community, with the group of scholars discussing the movie and its lip biting twists and turns as it follows the story of Bella Swan falling in love with Edward Cullen, a vampire, and the perils and heartbreak that come with it.
RA Keeley is an adamant Twilight fan, despite never having watched the films. Her decision to form the club stems from her Twilight themed hallway, and when asked about her inspiration, RA Keeley claimed that she had seen Twilight on Netflix, and stated, “Teenage girls love Twilight.”
The scholars seemed to enjoy the film, and the company. The accidental comedic quality of the films were a constant point of interest during the club. Laughter filled the room as the scholars drew closer to the screen. One scholar summarized the club by stating, “The pictures were moving. It was a really great film. It was my first time watching it.” Overall, the movies received a positive reception by the scholars in attendance.
Next week, come join RA Keeley and the scholars at the Twilight Club, and be ready to watch some incredible movies!
